3 months into the journey, diagnosed A1c of 7.8 and 70-90 lbs overweight. Told my MD "no, I don't accept this, I'll do what it takes to fix it." Went through a (thankfully) very quick acceptance & rejection of various diets; ultra-low carb, keto, Med, low carb varients of keto/Med, but after a week a close friend told me to watch the videos on nutritionfacts.org The information there was incredibly enlightening and NOT a sales pitch for ANYTHING, just FACTS. And those facts made it incredibly clear that an all-plant (aka vegan) diet was the only way to fix the PROBLEM, not just the symptoms.
I started the vegan diet the 2 weeks after A1c result. I started tirzepatide 6 weeks after A1c result. Titrated rather quickly, on my MD's suggestion, reaching 10mg after 7 week ramp. (Going to 15 2 weeks from today.) Important point here is that (according to my reading) just now the tirzepatide starting to have an effect on my appetite and A1c. (I have had zero side effects to date.) So last week I'm 90 days from A1c result and 45 days about on tirzep.
Had labs done last week; A1c down from 7.8 to 5.9, Weight down 28 lbs. Improvements in albumin ratio, triglycerides and LDL. But I haven't been on trizepatide long enough for these improvements so I have to accept that my strict adherence to an all-plant diet and daily exercise have been the main factors in these improvements. I'm excited to have tirzepatide to help me make the rest of the way to my goal of 35-40% weight loss and a normal blood panel.
This is what I wanted to put out there for you folks. But it's VERY important you check out nutritionfacts.org and see the evidence for yourself.
I don't want to be taking tirzepatide the rest of my life. So I need to FIX THE PROBLEM, not just mask it.
PS - if you find this interesting, you might also consider the benefits of turmeric, amla powder & boswellia supplements combined with a vegan diet AND exercise.
I wish you all success on your individual journeys. Posting this because Alison's efforts in creating this site was a HUGE help getting me going in finding a supplier and I wanted to pay it forward.
